EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OFTHE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota, was duly held on the28thday of August, 2017,at <br />6:00 p.m. <br />The following members were present:McGehee,Laliberte, Etten, and Roeandthefollowing <br />members were absent: Willmus. <br />CouncilmemberEttenintroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION No.11435 <br />ARESOLUTION ADOPTING POLICE DEPARTMENT POLICY#102REGARDING <br />IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT <br />BEITRESOLVEDthattheRosevilleCityCouncilherebyadoptsascitypolicythePolice <br />Departmentpolicy#102asitpertainstoimmigrationenforcementpresentedbytheCity <br />Manager this evening, and amended by the City Council, as follows: <br />Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) <br />Federal law does not authorize the Roseville Police Department to enforce federal <br />immigration laws. As such, employees shall not inquire about a persons immigration <br />status unless it is directly related to a criminal investigation. <br />Members of the department are authorized to assist ICE when it is related to scene <br />safety and/or the safety of ICE employees as they perform their duties. Members of the <br />department are authorized to cooperate with a task force involving ICE agents as long <br />as the focus of the task force is not immigration enforcement. <br />Member of the department will cooperate with ICE as specifically mandated by federal <br />and state laws. <br />and; <br />BEITFURTHERRESOLVEDthatanychangetoPoliceDepartmentpolicy#102asit <br />pertains to immigration enforcement must be approved by City Council. <br />ThemotiontheadoptionofresolutionwasdulysecondedbyMayorRoeand <br />fortheforegoing <br />uponvotebeingtakenthereon,thefollowingvotedinfavorthereof:Laliberte,Etten,andRoe <br />and the followingabstained: McGehee. <br /> <br />
