Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br />August 16, 2017 Draft Minutes <br />Page5 of10 <br />Commissioners Eichenlaub, Djevi, Hansel, and Dailey volunteered to be part of the <br />Subcommittee to review the rubric for the essay question. <br />d.Staff Report <br />Ms. Olsonreported the City Council approved the Commissions recommendation to receive <br />Acer Iverson as a Youth Commissioner at the August 14, 2017 Council meeting. <br />Commissioner Dailey inquired if they should also assign a mentor to Youth Commissioner <br />Hansel. <br />The Commission agreed the mentor was to be for new Youth Commission members. <br />Commissioner Peterson offered to be a mentor to Mr. Iverson, but stated she will not be at the <br />September meeting. She will coordinate with staff to be present for his orientation. <br />Mayor Roe asked Youth Commissioner Hansel if she would like a mentor. <br />Youth Commissioner Hansel responded no. <br />Ms. Olson referred to discussion at a previous HRIEC meeting regarding the Police <br />Departments policy around asking about immigration status. She stated the Police Department <br />does not ask about immigration status when they respond to incident calls and they are working <br />on putting this into a written policy. Once the draft policy is reviewed and finalized, staff will <br />forward a copy to the Commission. <br />Commissioner Holub inquired if the Council has received the Imagine Roseville report. <br />Ms. Olson advised it will be part of the August 28, 2017 Council meeting. <br />Ms. Olson reported Commissioners Groff, Djevi, and Holub, and Mayor Roe were at the <br />planning meeting for Imagine Roseville. <br />Commissioner Groff reported the next Imagine Roseville Town Hall meeting will be on October <br />2, 2017.They are currently coming up with questions and people that will be involved. They <br />will go over the Citys policies. <br />Commissioner Holub commented this meeting is designed to be less of a presentation and <br />include more dialogue to reach the people who did not attend last fall. <br />Ms. Olson commented the data collected from Ramsey County that was discussed to be part of <br />the next meeting will not be available until the beginning of next year. <br /> <br />
