Discussion on Yanez Verdict <br />597 <br />598 <br />Commissioner Eichenlaub stated he believes that community policing remains an issue in the <br />599 <br />forefront of news and current events, and he asked Mayor Roe what actions the City is taking to <br />600 <br />address these issues. <br />601 <br />602 <br />Mayor Roe responded prior to the local shootings that have taken place, the Chief was already <br />603 <br />doing work with immigrant community. They would play volleyball with the kids, have <br />604 <br />lemonade stands, and connect through Northeast Youth and Family Services through basketball <br />605 <br />and youth soccer camps. Since the Imagine Roseville conversations, they plan to look at data <br />606 <br />related to police stops and how that relates to the community. <br />607 <br />608 <br />Commissioner Eichenlaub stated he also wanted to include this topic in the Commission minutes <br />609 <br />because he did not want people to think they were not addressing these issues. <br />610 <br />611 <br />Commissioner Holub suggested they track what Imagine Roseville is doing so they can discuss <br />612 <br />what the issues are and make recommendations. <br />613 <br />614 <br />Mayor Roe stated the Council discussed referring the Imagine Roseville process to the HRIE <br />615 <br />Commission to evaluate what has been done and to make recommendations going forward. This <br />616 <br />would also include future selection of topics, who is part of the planning process, and if there is a <br />617 <br />process to formally or informally welcome someone into the planning effort. <br />618 <br />619 <br />Councilmember Laliberte stated the City Council has a goal in their priority planning document <br />620 <br />around Imagine Roseville. With Commissions, there is a formal process for adding members. <br />621 <br />However, with Imagine Roseville, it is not done that way and may need to be formalized. <br />622 <br />623 <br />Commissioner Dailey suggested there be an Imagine Roseville update on future agendas. <br />624 <br />625 <br /> <br />
