It is not the role of the City to investigate any <br />complaints, and often times it will find itself in a position of awaiting the outcome of a <br />MNDHR investigation. Until that investigation is complete, we believe it is in the best <br />interest of residents and businesses to not be opened up to undue harassment. Keeping the <br />complaints anonymous would inform the City and HRIEC of current trends while the <br />MNDHR investigation is conducted, protecting the safety of everyone involved. <br />6. <br />Provide Guidance to Commissioners on Responding to Reports: The City Council and <br />leadership should provide guidance to commissioners on responding to reports they <br />receive personally about profiling in the community. Commissioners may feel stuck <br />between their role as community members and commissioners, unsure what they are to <br />say to their fellow residents, especially if an incident occurs during the weekend and City <br />officials are unavailable to respond. <br /> <br />
