Minnesota Department of Transportation updates: • Snelling Avenue Project —Resurfacing project between Como Ave and TH 36. o Creation of additional turn lanes at Larpenteur and County Road B. o Scheduled to be completed by the State Fair. 35W Managed Lane Project—This project, which will add aMnPASS (toll)/carpool lane to 35W from County Road C to Lino Lakes, has been fully funded and will go out for bids late next summer. This will be a design/build project where the contractor uses a consultant to finish the final design of the project and is then responsible for constructing that design. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2019 and likely last four years. MnDOT has recently hired a consultant to start the preliminary study for adding a managed lane to Highway 36 from 35W to 35E, at least in the eastbound direction. There is still ongoing discussion about whether a third lane will be added to the westbound direction or not. There is no set timeline for actual construction of this project as it has not yet been fully funded. Major Maintenance Activities: • Completed fourth mowing of rights-of-way and maintained various streetscapes. • Completed annual painting of pavement markings. • Ongoing street patching, monthly compost turning, tree trimming, and storm sewer cleaning/repairs. • Continue working on meter repairs and replacements. • Collected bacteriological samples for testing. • Continue working with consulting engineers on the Booster, Walsh Pond and Cleveland lift stations for future work. • Repaired one broken water main and replaced two valves. • Continue with the annual sanitary sewer cleaning program. • Began hydrant painting.
