Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
Date: November 28, 2017 Item No: 5
Item Description: Recycle Coach
Background:
Staff received a presentation by Recycle Coach in August of 2017 to promote their customizable
app that is geared towards getting waste information to residents. The app would be customized
for Roseville residents by taking all of our local recycling and waste information and make it
accessible from one location (versus multiple websites). Residents can get reminders of when
their pickup is scheduled, and also view the City's event schedule (Clean Up Day, Shredding
Day, etc). Advanced versions of the app include searching materials by name to know what goes
where, report a problem, etc.
From Recycle Coach's website:
"The Recycle Coach network connects residents looking for waste and recycling information,
with municipalities and counties that wish to help their residents maximize their recycling
impact. After only 18 months, there are already 3,000+ municipalities offering enhanced
information for residents.
Our focus isn't limited to improving recycling communication. Recycle Coach Academy is an
education platform that blends proven principles of learning, modern teaching methods, and
gamification to address today's disturbing trends of `too much garbage in the recycling bin' and
`too many recyclables in the garbage bin'."
Staff shortened the presentation that was given by Recycle Coach for this meeting. Staff will go
over the presentation and answer questions as they are able.
Recommended Action:
Receive presentation and provide feedback.
Attachments:
A.
