Business Items <br /> a. Mary Jo McGuire, Ramsey County Commissioner <br /> Mayor Roe welcomed Ramsey County Commissioner Mary Jo McGuire. <br /> Commissioner McGuire expressed her appreciation of being able to witness the <br /> prior discussion and excellent example of civic engagement and its subsequent in- <br /> formed and respectful dialogue. Commissioner McGuire further thanked the City <br /> Council for this opportunity to comment and thanked them and City of Roseville <br /> staff for their continued cooperation with Ramsey County commissioners and <br /> staff. <br /> Commissioner McGuire's presentation included Ramsey County's vision, mission <br /> and goals for well-being, prosperity, opportunity and accountability and commu- <br /> nity indicators included on their website. Commissioner McGuire reviewed spe- <br /> cifics for four service areas for the county: health and wellness, economic growth <br /> and community investment, safety and justice, and information and public rec- <br /> ords. <br /> In reviewing the 2018-2019 county budget Commissioner McGuire addressed <br /> public hearing and comment dates and federal and state mandates impacting <br /> county taxpayers. Commissioner McGuire asked that the city consider including <br /> Ramsey County's Active Living promotions and programs in their 2040 compre- <br /> hensive plan update. <br /> Further review included the ongoing success and high use of the Ramsey County <br /> Library — Roseville branch; recycling management updates, including citizen re- <br /> quested organics collection currently under consideration for implementation at <br /> the city and county staff levels to find a Roseville location (e.g. blue bag organic <br /> collections); and the county park system consisting of sixteen parks, including <br /> Lake Josephine and Lake McCarrons. <br /> Commissioner McGuire commended the city and its residents for their efforts <br /> with Alzheimer's and dementia and other health awareness issues; announcing the <br /> county's new Health and Aging Coordinator. <br />
