Tax Levy Benchmarks <br />The following graphs are presented to provide citizens with an understanding of where their property tax <br />dollars are spent, and how current tax burdens compare to certain benchmarks.The majority of local tax <br />monies provide funding for public safety, public works, and parks and recreation services. This can be <br />shown in the following graph which highlights tax spending for these services as compared to other <br />governmental services. <br />2018 Tax Levy Distribution <br />General Govt., <br />Parks & <br />11% <br />Recreation,27% <br />Police,31% <br />Public Works, <br />17% <br />Fire,14% <br />As depicted in the chart, police-related programs and services receive the highest level of tax levy support <br />at 31%followed by Parks & Recreationat 27%.This distribution includes each function’s proportionate <br />share of debt service used to finance related improvements. <br />It should be noted that this distribution represents a snapshot in time and can change from year to year <br />depending on the timing of capital projectsand other factors.The following graph depicts the same <br />information from 2011. <br />2011 Tax Levy Distribution <br />General Govt., <br />Parks & <br />11% <br />Recreation,19% <br />Public Works, <br />21% <br />Police,37% <br />Fire,12% <br />11 <br /> <br />
