We might also be able to
harvest energy from wastewater (see article in today's—or yesterday's—Star Trib), and/or other technologies
that are evolving now (converting garbage to transportation fuel) and who knows what's down the road?
2. Local generation of renewable energy is only as important as we and our leaders want it to be. We were out in
front once, back when we installed geothermal for our ice cooling system, and are still reaping those savings.
Taking similar risks, say into some kind of district energy system, might attract some specific businesses and
residents looking for forward -looking -and -thinking civic and citizen leaders. Meeting statewide goals is a noble
goal, but we will need to compete with other cities that are right now making a stronger commitment to
sustainability and smart growth.
Joe
Sent from Mail for Windows 10
From: Becky Alexander <becky.alexander@lhbcorp.com>
Sent: Friday, January 5, 2018 2:03:38 PM
To: joesvillemn@hotmail.com; sten1003@umn.edu; jhfelice@gmail.com; Nate.Arthur@co.washington.mn.us
Cc: Bryan Lloyd; Marc Culver; Kari Collins; Ryan Johnson; Thomas Paschke
Subject: RE: Comp Plan policies, strategies
Joe, Dwayne, Nate, and Joan,
Thanks for your input on Roseville's 2040 Comp Plan goals. The group cc:ed here is currently finalizing a draft of
Roseville's Resilience and Environmental Protection chapter. The intent of the five main Goals from your document align
well with the goals we have presented to the Planning Commission, but have several key differences, so I wanted to ask
you a couple follow-up questions regarding renewable energy.
