Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, January 8,2018
Page 17
Roll Call
Ayes: Laliberte, McGehee, Willmus, Etten, and Roe.
Nays: None.
10. Council& City Manager Communications, Reports, and Announcements
City Manager Trudgeon updated the Council on the Dorso Building Company situation.
The agreement entered into gave them 60 days to comply and clean up the property in a
certain manner, and that expires at the end of today. A quick drive-by this afternoon did
not indicate much progress was made. The City will go out tomorrow and assess the sit-
uation and document what is done. If not in compliance, next steps will be taken. The
City does expect litigation as part of this, but the City is now at a point where it will be
litigating over a contract and failure to execute on the contract. Staff is very disappointed
that it did not work out the way it was supposed to. The Council will remain informed,
and staff will do its best to get that property into compliance with the agreement.
Councilmember McGehee thanked City Manager Trudgeon for putting this in contract
form so the City has something to be litigating, if forced to do so.
In response to a question from Council, City Manager Trudgeon concurred the tenants are
signatories to the agreement.
11. Councilmember-Initiated Items for Future Meetings
City Manager Trudgeon outlined the agenda for the upcoming Economic Development
Authority meeting on January 16, 2018: a review of the TIF districts; the Comp Plan
chapters concerning economic development and housing; and, the possible acquisition of
1125 Sandhurst Drive. He then then outlined the agendas for the upcoming January 22
Council meeting: 2018 Public Works plan; Rezoning and Comp Plan Amendment for
2030 County Road D; and, a public hearing for a noise variance. He reviewed the agenda
for the January 29 Council meeting: a closed session to discuss the possible purchase of
2719 Lexington Ave.; meeting with the Roseville legislative delegation; and, discussion
about authorizing eminent domain to acquire 2719 Lexington Ave.
Councilmember Willmus encouraged all Councilmembers to visit 1125 Sandhurst, noting
the County representatives are flexible in accommodating folks' schedules. He also
brought up the Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission, which seems to
be struggling to process the Council feedback. He wondered how the Council can better
clarify the information or provide it in a manner that the group is able to process and di-
gest more easily. He asked for some staff feedback at an upcoming meeting.
Mayor Roe inquired about the timing of the next HRIEC meeting. .
Assistant City Manager Olson responded the next meeting is January 17, and the agenda
is being set right now. The Commission is in the process of coming up with a few rec-
ommendations and they are reworking their workplan.
