Roseville citizens request <br />254 <br />that some control measures be taken, as deer eat trees and plants <br />255 <br />in residential areas. Deer in the streets have ledto accidents. Yet <br />256 <br />citizens also enjoy wildlife and want deer in our city. (URL) <br />259 <br />o <br />260 <br />Tree Board <br />261 <br />What is it? <br />Tree CityUSA is a nationwide movement that provides <br />262 <br />o <br />the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand <br />263 <br />their public trees. Rosevilleis a member of this movement. <br />264 <br />More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to <br />265 <br />o <br />becoming a Tree City USA. They have achieved Tree City USA <br />266 <br />status by meetingthe core standards of sound urban forestry <br />267 <br />management, which are: maintaining a tree board or department, <br />268 <br />, spending at least $2 per capita <br />having a community tree ordinance <br />269 <br />on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day. <br />270 <br />271 <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission serves as the Roseville <br />272 <br />o <br />Tree Board. (URL) <br />279 <br />o <br />280 <br />EAB (Emerald Ash Borer) Program <br />281 <br />What is it? <br />The Emerald Ash Borer is a non-native pest that feeds <br />282 <br />o <br />on and destroys ash trees. It first appeared in Roseville in 2013 <br />283 <br />and the infestation has spread to all zones of the city. Roseville has <br />284 <br />inventoried over 1800 ash trees on public lands (parks and <br />285 <br />boulevards). Current thinking is that all of thesewill eventually get <br />286 <br />EAB infestations and die.
