REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 04/09/18 <br />Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: RosevilleDeer Population Report <br />1 BACKGROUND <br />2 The City of Roseville, in conjunction with Ramsey County, havebeen completing aerial surveys of the deer <br />3 population since 2004.The aerial surveys consist of a helicopter “fly over” after a fresh snowfall counting <br />4 the number of deer seen.The most recent survey was February 2018. Below are the results of the deer <br />5 tracking numbers since 2004 including the most recent 2018 survey of 43 deer. <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 Based on the amount of habitat in Roseville it was determined by the Minnesota Department of Natural <br />10 Resouces (MNDNR) that our city can support a population of 15-19 deer. <br />11 <br />12 Parks and Recreation tracksand analyzes Roseville deer observations, inquiries, questions and opinions. <br />13 Included in your packet are maps of the following: <br />14 2016 Deer Population Map <br />15 2018 Deer Population Map <br />16 Roseville Deer Habitat Map <br />17 2017 Deer Sightings Map <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />8 <br /> <br />
