Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes <br /> February 21, 2018 —Draft Minutes <br /> Page 9 of 10 <br /> Commissioner Peterson stated they should also look through the comments people made at the <br /> forums. She suggested they debrief the Imagine Roseville meeting at the March HRIEC <br /> meeting. <br /> Chair Holub summarized that everyone will try to be at the event on March 14 at 6:30 p.m. and <br /> they will seek further direction from the Council on what questions they want feedback on. <br /> L Naturalization Ceremony <br /> Chair Holub reported the Naturalization Ceremony will take place on May 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the <br /> Roseville Skating Center. <br /> Ms. Olson stated previously the Police Department has held a New American Forum. However, <br /> Community Relations Coordinator Corey Yunke has expressed interest in doing smaller events <br /> that focus on relationship building. She also reported there are strict guidelines for what can and <br /> cannot occur at the ceremony and not everyone participating in the ceremony is from Roseville. <br /> Commissioner Djevi commented last year there was a Roseville resident who wanted to host a <br /> dinner for new citizens as part of community building, but he does not believe the City could be <br /> part of this. The Commission agreed. <br /> Commissioner Groff stated at the smaller events with Mr. Yunke, they could promote how to get <br /> involved in City government. <br /> Ms. Olson commented that she will connect with Mr. Yunke to gather more information on the <br /> New American Forum changes for the Commission. <br /> Other News, Business or Reports <br /> a. City Engagement Efforts <br /> Ms. Olson highlighted the following items and events: <br /> • Imagine Roseville: Traffic Stop Data Forum will take place on Wednesday, March 14 at <br /> 6:30 p.m. at the Roseville Skating Center <br /> • The City Council approved two new parks to be built and these will be built by the <br /> community through a community build process in conjunction with City staff. <br /> • Mayor Dan Roe will present the State of the City Address on Wednesday, February 28 at <br /> 7:30 a.m. at the Builders Association of the Twin Cities. It will be live on Facebook and <br /> will also be replayed on Cable Channel 16 at 6:00 p.m. and several times throughout <br /> March. <br /> • There will be opportunities for Roseville residents to view the draft Comprehensive Plan <br /> in April. <br />
