Rec Connect-2017 Evaluation <br /> Goals: <br /> • Establish connections/relationships between established community services &our newer <br /> community members <br /> • Introduce youth to recreation experiences that involve sports, arts, leadership &teamwork <br /> • Bring healthy activities & provide recreation opportunities to a community of Roseville youth <br /> who may have financial &transportation constraints <br /> Program Structure <br /> Dates: 5-week program,July 11-August 10 on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons <br /> Time:2:00—4:00 pm <br /> Location:Tamarack Park <br /> • Staff designate a meeting location near the Marion Street apartments to gather youth and walk <br /> them down to the program location at Tamarack Park <br /> • Utilized 2 "Roseville Parks & Recreation" flags to indicate when the program was meeting <br /> Staffing: <br /> • Seasonal Rec Connect Coordinator(see job description) <br /> • Season Rec Connect Group Leader(Recreational based) <br /> • 2-3 additional staff to assist through the program <br /> Participants: <br /> • 4-15 year olds <br /> • Maximum of 40 participants <br /> Activities/Curriculum: <br /> • Incorporate a variety of play & learning experiences through theme based sessions <br /> • Activities to include arts and crafts, sports, projects, stories, games and other activities <br /> • Include snack <br /> • End of summer field trip- Big Thrill Factory-Oakdale <br /> Planning Methods: <br /> • Bi-weekly meetings to discuss progress <br /> • School District Cultural Liaisons <br /> o Communicated and met with Roseville Area School District Cultural liaisons to gather <br /> information and insight about the population living at the Marion/Britney Apartments- <br /> offered suggestions on program logistics and promotional opportunities <br /> • Connected with Corey Yunke w. Roseville Police: Corey has worked with the Karen population <br /> and offered soccer programs to youth living within the Britney/Marion Apartment complex <br /> • Met with Kelly Mertes- Brooklyn Center, currently offer a similar"Rec On the Go" program- <br /> gathered input and ideas on how to implement a similar program in Roseville <br />
