Item 7c.
Action Plan
Background
At the November meeting, the Commission discussed putting together a calendar that included a
timeline of when the commission would be addressing those items for which they felt the City Council
had given broad approval.
Attached is a document that came from the Chair/Vice Chair outlining the timeframe for discussing
certain topics. As you will see, there is also a reference to additional special quarterly meetings to
discuss policy issues. Due to several factors, staff feels as though it may be premature to plan special
meetings for 2018.This does not preclude the commission from calling a special meeting. The
commission has the ability to call a special meeting if they need additional time for discussion or
planning purposes. However, without knowing how much time will be devoted during regular meetings
to agenda items, what issues would be discussed at special meetings or the time needed for them, it is
unclear whether scheduling advanced special meetings are the best use of resources.
Recommendation
At this time, without further knowledge of what specific topics or issues would be discussed at these
special meetings, staff recommends that the commission finalize the regular meeting schedule (see
information in staff report item item 8a.)for 2018, in addition, work to identify the priorities that the
commission would like to bring back to the City Council for consideration.
