To maintain positive code enforcement control of adverse <br />conditions on both public and private property that affect <br />the health, safety, and welfare of the general public. <br />2. Ensure proper code enforcement of all state and city code <br />requirements to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of <br />the public. Control of the design, construction, materials, <br />use and occupancy, and maintenance of all buildings shall <br />accomplish this objective. <br />Activity: <br />1. Al1 code complaints shall be handled in an expedient, <br />consistent and fair manner. <br />2. All required licenses, occupancy permits, etc., shall be <br />properly issued, and all records maintained for easy <br />reference. <br />3. Al1 permits, plan reviews, and inspections shall be carried <br />' out in an efficient, consistent, and timely manner as per <br />Code Department procedures. <br />Expenditure Comments: <br />1. The 1988 Budget provided additional hours for a temporary <br />Inspection position. The 1989 Budget combines the temporary <br />Inspection hours in both Code Enforcement and Fire Inspection <br />to create a new full-time Inspector position, to be funded <br />one-half in Code and one-half in Fire Prevention. <br />39 <br />
