Although the revenues from the Relief Association's 2 percent <br />share of fire insurance premiums and the interest on the <br />pension fund investments are sufficient to enable full <br />funding of increased benefit levels over a period of time, <br />the Relief Association has requested that the City contribute <br />tax dollars to enable full funding of the most recent benefit <br />increase within a shorter time period versus relying on fire <br />insurance premium revenue and interest income. <br />The City provided a significant contribution in 1989. It is <br />proposed that the City again provide a contribution at the <br />level requested by the Fire Department. <br />r,� <br />
