NO. <br />10-12 <br />1990 1990 <br />RECMD ADOPTED <br />295,980 295,980 <br />17,260 17,260 <br />21,300 21,300 <br />334,540 334,540 <br />OBJECTIVE: <br />To conduct criminal investigations to successfully resolve criminal <br />activity, and assist in the successful prosecution of offenders. <br />To identify patterns of criminal activity and develop preventive <br />techniques, decreasing the opportunity to successfully commit <br />crime. <br />ACTIVITY: <br />l. This unit, presently comprised of one Sergeant, two Investi- <br />gators, one Juvenile Officer, one Crime Prevention Officer, <br />and one School Liaison Officer, investigates crime with <br />assistance of patrol personnel and outside agencies. They <br />collect and preserve evidence during the course of investi- <br />gating, and maintain the proper chain of evidence. <br />2. The Records Unit, consisting of three Police office clerks, <br />(includes one part-time added in 1987) processes all reports <br />initiated by Roseville officers. The Chief's secretary also <br />assists this unit. Information for every incident must be <br />sorted, entered into the computer, and filed. All criminal <br />reports going to outside agencies are typed (started in 1987). <br />3. The Crime Prevention officer works to develop contacts with <br />citizens and business people in an effort to reduce crime <br />opportunities and effects on the community. This officer <br />also works to start up more Neighborhood Watch groups. <br />EXPENDITURE COMMENTS: <br />1. Operating supplies are up due to firearm training needs. <br />2. Training has been increased due to training the Chief is now <br />requiring of officers in specific risk areas. <br />12 <br />
