NO. 10-12 1990 1990 RECMD ADOPTED 295,980 295,980 17,260 17,260 21,300 21,300 334,540 334,540 OBJECTIVE: To conduct criminal investigations to successfully resolve criminal activity, and assist in the successful prosecution of offenders. To identify patterns of criminal activity and develop preventive techniques, decreasing the opportunity to successfully commit crime. ACTIVITY: l. This unit, presently comprised of one Sergeant, two Investi- gators, one Juvenile Officer, one Crime Prevention Officer, and one School Liaison Officer, investigates crime with assistance of patrol personnel and outside agencies. They collect and preserve evidence during the course of investi- gating, and maintain the proper chain of evidence. 2. The Records Unit, consisting of three Police office clerks, (includes one part-time added in 1987) processes all reports initiated by Roseville officers. The Chief's secretary also assists this unit. Information for every incident must be sorted, entered into the computer, and filed. All criminal reports going to outside agencies are typed (started in 1987). 3. The Crime Prevention officer works to develop contacts with citizens and business people in an effort to reduce crime opportunities and effects on the community. This officer also works to start up more Neighborhood Watch groups. EXPENDITURE COMMENTS: 1. Operating supplies are up due to firearm training needs. 2. Training has been increased due to training the Chief is now requiring of officers in specific risk areas. 12
