THE GENERAL FUND <br />The General Fund was established to account for the revenue <br />and expenditures to carry out basic governmental activities <br />of the City such as general government, public safety and <br />public works. Revenue is recorded by source; such as <br />property taxes, licenses and permits, fines and forfeits, <br />charges for service and state-shared taxes. General Fund <br />expenditures are made primarily for current day-to-day <br />operations and are recorded by functional classifications and <br />by operating departments. This fund accounts for all <br />financial transactions not properly accounted for in another <br />fund. <br />
