All temporary cash eurpluses during the year are invested in <br />various aecurities which State Statutes permit. Investment <br />yielde ranged from 4.0� to 8.50$ during the year. The 1992 <br />average interest rate was approximately 8.5$. Non-pooled funds <br />were invested in restricted yield eecuritiee which ranged from <br />5.25� to 7�. Al1 awards of <br />compensation, legal feee, administrative coete and the premivm <br />for excess coverage are paid from thie fund. The Workers' <br />Compeneation Reinsurance Aesociation provided excesa coverage for <br />all claime in 1992 in exceas of $220,000 (1991 -$210,000), with <br />no limite. <br />The program hae proven to be very succeeeful since it wae <br />eatablished in 1960. Property taxee have been levied to support <br />the worker's compensation program only 2 out of the past 5 yeare. <br />The City maintaine an internal service fund of approximately <br />S900.000 for General Riek Management.
