To wnfinue to provide the programs necessary of the general public safety of all residents and <br />visitors. <br />The City achieved several objectives within the goals stated above, summaries of the results aze <br />shown below. <br />Rconomic DevelopmenC <br />The City recorded the highest number of buIlding permits (1,475) in 1998 than in any other year. <br />The value of those permiu ($46,650,610) was well above average and represented a strong growth <br />in the City's economy. <br />.• i� <br />Several substandard homes were purchased in 1998 and the lots were redeveloped with improved <br />housing values. Additional housing loan programs through the local banks were discussed and <br />developed ior impleEnentation in 1499. <br />A stronger enforcement of housing and land use ordinances was begun in 1998. The results aze <br />expected to assist [he community in keeping property values stable. <br />• , � <br />In addidon to increa.�eci park improvements throughout the community, a new pathway design for <br />the Dale Street uea was begun in 1998 with construction scheduled in 1999. <br />Traffic concerns were addressed through the improvement of a number of neighborhood street <br />projects and by the City working coc>peratively with Ramsey County and the SWte o; Minnesota <br />on their designated streets within Roseville. <br />I :' �:. <br />T'he City Council formed.a Centre City Citizens committee to study, review and recommend <br />possible improvements in the azea directly azound and including the cunent city hall site.
