80Commissioner Heikkila suggestedthat the public reviewthe Pathway Master Plan document <br />81as he feels it is very impressive how much planning goes into the pathways in the <br />82community. <br />83 <br />84Commissioner Bole commented on the current state of some pathways. Staff confirmed that <br />85the pathways are regularly swept and that all pathways are assessed for condition every 4 <br />86years. <br />87 <br />886)DISCUSS AND PREPARE FOR JOINT MEETING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL <br />89Chair O’Brien provided an overview of what was discussed at the 2017 joint meeting, <br />90including the deer reduction effort and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). <br />91 <br />92The Commission reviewed and modified the Request forCity Council Action (RCA) report <br />93forthe joint meeting anddiscussedwhat specifically to highlight for the City Council. <br />94Discussion included: <br />95Commissioner Stoner suggested expanding the outreachconcept to 1716 Marion <br />96Streetand suggested adding “promoting parks and recreation opportunities in diverse <br />97communities” under the short term “what’s next”section <br />98The Commission agreed to move “add unique components and play opportunities” <br />99under the short term “what’s next” section with a specific reference to the youth <br />100pump track bike course at Autumn Grove <br />101Commissioner Warzechaagreed to highlight Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). <br />102Commissioner Heikkilasuggestedhaving anEAB campaign similar to St. Paul, who <br />103wraps Ash Trees with green flags to inform residents of whichtrees are Ash and to <br />104help identify that those trees will be removed <br />105Chair O’Brien proposed that Darrell could present on the upcoming bonding effort to <br />106the City Council (if he was agreeable). She also suggested adding a summary of park <br />107building usage to the RCA <br />108Chair O’Brien agreed to speak on the “what’s next” section <br />109 <br />110The Commission confirmed that the attachments to the RCA should include the: EAB <br />111Report, Parks and Recreation Commission Primer, Cedarholm Community Building Open <br />112House Flyer and the 2017 ParkBuilding Usage. <br />113 <br />114The Commission agreed to gather at 6:30p.m. inthe HawthorneRoom at City Hall prior to <br />115the June 18, 2018 joint meeting with the City Council. <br />116 <br />117 <br />118 <br />119 <br />6 <br /> <br />
