<br /> <br /> ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />August 2, 2018 6:30pm <br /> <br />PRESENT: Baggenstoss, Bole, Gelbach, Heikkila, Hoag, O’Brien, Quick, <br />Warzecha <br />ABSENT: Stoner, Newby <br />STAFF: Brokke, Christensen <br /> <br />1) INTRODUCTIONS <br /> <br />2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Chair O’Brien recognized that there was public in attendance to speak on the Cleveland <br />Avenue and Marion Street Park Site Naming Discussion later in the agenda. <br /> <br />3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – June 5, 2018 MEETING <br />Commissioner Hoag moved to approve the June 5, 2018 meeting minutes. Commissioner <br />Warzecha seconds. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – July 12, 2018 MEETING <br />Commissioner Hoag moved to approve the July 12, 2018 meeting minutes. Commissioner <br />Warzecha seconds. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />5) PRESENTATION OF MRPA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE <br />Staff introduced Michelle Snider, Executive Director from the Minnesota Recreation and <br />Park Association (MRPA). Snider provided background on the MRPA and the Awards <br />Committee which oversees professional awards for individuals and the Award of Excellence <br />program which recognizes projects. The Cedarholm Community Building was nominated for <br />an Award of Excellence under the “Parks and Facilities” category. Snider noted the creativity <br />in rebuilding an aging clubhouse into a multipurpose community building for all citizens of <br />Roseville. In addition, she recognized the Commission, staff and community for their <br />excellent work on the project. The Award of Excellence was presented to Chair O’Brien. <br /> <br />6) ONGOING TOPICS <br />a) Cleveland Avenue and Marion Street Park Site Update and Naming Discussion <br />This item was moved up in the meeting agenda due to residents being present for this <br />topic. <br /> <br />Staff provided an update on the two new parks at 2134 Cleveland Avenue and 1716 <br />Marion Street along with an overview of the Naming Policy.
