The Parks and Recreation Department utilizes the following methods to educate the public on <br />EAB: <br /> Articles in city publications <br />Resources onthecity website <br /> Diseased and hazardous tree door hangers <br /> Subject matter expertise <br /> <br />The Commission discussed options for tree replacement and whether residents should have: <br /> The option of refusing a replacement tree on public land near their home <br />(boulevards) <br /> Be able to select a species not identified on the plan <br /> Only a tree determined by the Roseville Tree Master Plan <br /> <br />Commissioner Gelbach proposed the creation of a program for residents to donate a tree or <br />funds toward the purchase of a tree for city-owned land. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gelbach questioned if we have an inventory of private property trees. Staff <br />confirmed that our tree survey was only completed for city-owned land. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stoner suggested adding an Ash Tree leaf guide to the door hangers. <br /> <br />The Commission discussed options on how to best use EAB funds and how to procure <br />additional monies for EAB in the future. <br />Commissioner Hoag suggested offering residents as many tree options as possible to increase <br />resident buy-in. <br /> <br />5)NATURAL RESOURCE STEWARDSHIP NETWORK AND DISCUSSION <br />Staff explained the current status and upcoming events for the Natural Resource Stewardship <br />Program including information on the Roseville Parks and Recreation Stewardship Network, <br />Public Agency Advisors, monthly volunteer events, native gardens, and special projects. <br /> <br />Currently, Stantec Inc. is managing the work and maintenance of the natural resource <br />restoration in all Roseville parks. However, in 2019, management and maintenance of some <br />parks will transition back to the city. <br /> <br />Staff reiterated that we have been successful in the third Saturday of the month events. <br />However, having just a once a month program will not be enough moving forward. <br />Vice-Chair Baggenstoss suggested that an adopt-a-park program could contribute to the <br />Stewardship Network. Also, he proposed the idea to include educational training materials <br />2 <br /> <br />
