Regular City Council Meeting
Monday,November 5, 2018
Page 5
Councilmember Willmus thought the biggest thing when a landlord's license is
suspended or revoked, is who would be managing the property. That is an aspect
that he would want to have and know of on the front end of this as well. He won-
dered if the City wanted to talk to MN Multi-family Housing Association and get
some input from them as well. He thought those are a couple of pieces the City
should have the answer to as the conversation continues.
Councilmember McGehee thought the MN Multi-family Housing is a very im-
portant piece because it was instrumental in going along with the City. The Li-
censing the MN Multi-family Housing Association will be representing the land-
lords' point of view in this type of case but she also felt strongly along with Mr.
Gaughan that there are several entities that are set up to do this and handle it with
the expertise. She did not think the City wanted to be in that spot and the problem
the City has is there seems to be some delay with that process to take place.
Councilmember Laliberte appreciated the perspective from the City Attorney and
comments from the rest of the City Council in regard to this issue. She thought
the City should gather all of the information together to determine what the City's
role and ability is regarding this.
Mayor Roe did not think any action needed to be taken but requested City staff
keep an eye on this situation and if any action is needed to be taken in the future,
to do so.
a. Public Hearing to Approve On Sale Intoxicating Liquor License for Balda-
mar
Finance Director Chris Miller briefly highlighted this item as detailed in the RCA
and related attachments dated November 5, 2018.
Mayor Roe reviewed public hearing protocol and opened and closed the public
hearing at approximately 6:27 p.m. for the purpose of receiving public input on
the above-referenced liquor license approval; with no one appearing for or
against.
Mr. Trudgeon noted this restaurant will be going on a restaurant pad on the exte-
rior of Rosedale on the southwest side by the theater. He noted this will be a free-
standing restaurant.
Laliberte moved, McGehee seconded, approval of an On-Sale and Sunday Intoxi-
cating Liquor License for All In, Inc. dba Baldamar's located at 1595 HWY 36,
Space#3010.
Roll Call
Ayes: Laliberte, McGehee, Willmus, Etten and Roe
Nays: None.
