Days of Remembrance <br />April 20__ <br />Whereas: The Holocaust was the state-sponsored, systemic persecution and annihilation of <br />European Jewry by Nazi Germany and its collaborators between 1933 and 1945; and <br />Whereas: Six million Jews along with hundreds of thousands of Poles, Gypsies, people with <br />handicaps, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, prisoners of war and political dissidents suffered <br />grievously and were murdered under Nazi tyranny; and <br />Whereas: The history of the Holocaust offers an opportunity to reflect on the moral <br />responsibilities of individuals, societies and governments; and <br />Whereas: The Days of Remembrance have been set aside as a time for all to remember the <br />victims of the Holocaust as well as to reflect on the need for respect of all people to strive to <br />overcome intolerance and indifference through learning and remembrance; and <br />Whereas: The people of the City of Roseville remember the terrible events of the Holocaust <br />and especially the deaths of more than a million children who were victims and remain vigilant <br />against hatred, persecution and tyranny; and <br />Whereas: The people of Roseville are dedicated to the principles of individual freedom in a <br />just society; and <br />hereas: The Roseville community honors the memory of the victims, survivors, rescuers <br />W <br />and liberators of the Holocaust. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council hereby declares (Sunday before Yom <br />Hashoah to Sunday after) 20__, including the Day of Remembrance known as Yom Hashoah on <br />_____, to be Days of Remembrance in the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of <br />Minnesota, U.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville <br />to be affixed this __ day of ____, 20__. <br />________________________ <br />Mayor Daniel J.
