I believe the <br />on this Commission? <br />Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement commission should <br />reflect the residents of Roseville. According to the 2010 <br />census, 9% of Roseville residents are Asian. I would bring that <br />representation, unique voice and perspective. <br />What is your view of the <br />To be aware of the demographics of our community, hear the <br />role of thisCommission? <br />voices of our residents, proactively engage all people, ensure <br />the city's policies are equitable, advise the City Council where <br />appropriate... generally work towards making Roseville asafe <br />and good place for all to live and thrive. <br />What specific skills or <br />Experiences: I am a second generation Korean-American who <br />experiences do you have <br />grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Texas -somewhat similar to <br />that would be beneficial <br />Roseville, MN. In my area of Roseville, I am one of the few <br />in serving on the advisory <br />non-whites in my neighborhood. I know the experience of <br />commission for which <br />immigrant families. I have rich experiences working with folks <br />you are applying? <br />of all ages, races, religions and gender expressions. At work <br />for Ramsey County, I serve on the Racial Equity Action Team. <br />In this role, I have facilitated group discussions and helped to <br />plan staff training. I was also appointed by Governor Dayton to <br />serve on the Council of Asian Pacific Minnesotans to advocate <br />on behalf of Asian Pacific Minnesotans to the Minnesota <br />Legislature and Governor. Skills: Community engagement -I <br />work with many Karen families through my service for Sejong <br />Academy, a charter school in St Paul. I believe this affords me <br />a unique perspective that can contribute to the work of the <br />commission. I am open minded and seek an equitable society <br />for all.
