Requested Commission Action: Approve/amend meeting minutes of April 2, 2019. 4. Emerald Ash Borer Discussion Last month you discussed the parks and recreation cash reserve/carry over fundsof $634,968 and possible use to implement an accelerated Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Program. The city is in a unique position in having these funds available. The EAB Program is currently underfunded with no future identified monies to address this epidemic. While an accelerated program would change the forest landscape in the city, this is a fortunate opportunity for the city to develop and implement a plan to eradicate EAB and create a new urban forest canopy simultaneously. Included in your packet is a draft outline of how an accelerated program might work along with some notes and comments. Staff will be at the meeting to provide you with an overview. Requested Commission Action: Review, update, provide feedback. 5. Roseville Deer Population Report The deer reduction effort for the 2018/19 season is complete. The reduction took place on 4 occasions between December 13, 2018 and March 7, 2019. The herd was reduced by 20 with 12 taken from Reservoir Woods Park in SE Roseville and 8 taken from Owasso Hills Park in NE Roseville. A summary report from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is included in your packet. In February 2019, Ramsey County completed a flyover of Roseville to count the number of deer. The deer count map is included in your packet. This very much appears to be an interest in the community and your advice to the City Council will be valuable. 2
