Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission Minutes April 17, 2019 – Draft Minutes Page 12of 13 492 493 Commissioner Peterson agreed. 494 495 Chair Beltmann wondered if it could be reworded to “Before we were a Nation, 496 Indigenous Nations have lived upon our land…” She stated there is something with 497 the rewrite that is not sitting well with her. 498 499 Ms. Olson suggested the following: “Before the United States became a Nation, 500 Indigenous Nations had lived upon our land…” 501 502 Chair Beltmann stated she did not like the word “lived” because it was their land and 503 the United States took the land. 504 505 Commissioner Peterson stated she would work on this proclamation and come back to 506 the Commission. 507 508 The Commission was in favor of the other proclamation changes as indicated. 509 510 b. Appoint Chair and Vice Chair 511 512 Commissioner Peterson nominated Commissioner Beltmann as Chair of the 513 Commission. There were no other nominations made. 514 515 CommissionerPeterson moved and Commissioner Bolinger seconded a motion to 516 appoint Commissioner Beltmannas Chair of the Human Rights, Inclusion and 517 Engagement Commission. Motion passed unanimously. 518 519 Commissioner Bolinger nominated Commissioner Peterson as Vice-Chair of the 520 Commission. There were no other nominations made. 521 522 CommissionerBolinger moved and Commissioner Eck seconded a motion to appoint 523 Commissioner Petersonas Vice Chair of the Human Rights, Inclusion and 524 Engagement Commission. Motion passed unanimously. 525 526 c. Appoint Representative to the Ethics Commission 527 528 CommissionerPeterson moved and Commissioner Eckseconded a motion to appoint 529 Commissioner Macomber as representative to the Ethics Commission.
