The winter verse summer consumption varies only by about 15%. If the current
rate structure for residential were applied to multi -family housing there would be an approximate
savings of $90,000 to all multi -family housing users. Since individual units are not metered and
the number of individual units is in the thousands, the savings per unit would be very small.
Most building owners would likely not pass this minimal savings on to the individual renter.
The second scenarios shows if the third tiered rate were applied since most apartment buildings
would trigger tis tier in the summer. This would cause and increase in rates to apartments.
Staffs recommendation would be to make no changes to the apartment facilities.
Recommended Action:
Receive presentation. Confirm residential tiered rate recommendation. Provide recommendation
of commercial water rates.
Attachments:
A.
