REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: <br />Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: RosevilleDeer Population Report <br />1 BACKGROUND <br />2 The City of Roseville, in conjunction with Ramsey County, havebeen completing aerial surveys of the deer <br />3 population since 2004. The aerial surveys consist of a helicopter “fly over” after a fresh snowfall counting <br />4 the number of deer seen. The most recent survey was February 2019. Below are the results of the deer <br />5 tracking numbers since 2004 including the most recent 2019 survey of 45 deer. <br />6 <br />7 <br />*No Survey completed in 2005, 2012, 2015 and 2017 due to lack of snow <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 Based on the amount of habitat in Roseville it was determined by the Minnesota Department of Natural <br />11 Resouces (MNDNR) that our city can support a population of 15-19 deer. <br />12 <br />13 Parks and Recreation tracks and analyzes Roseville deer observations, inquiries, questions and opinions. <br />14 Included in your packet are maps of the following: <br />15 2018 Deer Population Map <br />16 2019 Deer Population Map <br />17 2019 Q1 Deer Sightings Map <br />18 2019 Q1 Deer Feedback Map <br />19 2018 Deer Sightings Map <br />20 2018 Deer Feedback Map <br />21 Roseville Deer Habitat Map <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />2 <br /> <br />
