Hi Lonnie, I recently retired and also found Pickleball at Evergreen Park on M, W, F am all this summer. There is an average of 25 players each of M, W, and F am with many days having more than 30 players. I happened to catch the September Parks and Rec Commission meeting where I heard the tail end of the discussion on Pickleball. I read the minutes from that meeting and it seemed it was just a discussion. I don't bet, but I'd be willing to bet there are not 30 tennis players in an entire week playing tennis at Evergreen so I think it's past discussion and time for permanent Pickleball courts in Roseville. I heard Shoreview is meeting to discuss adding additional permanent Pickleball courts so I believe Roseville should dedicate and install some permanent Pickleball courts. Thanks for the great work you and your staff do and thanks for the great bike paths and lanes in Roseville as I am also a frequent bike rider. Finally, I have an idea for your youth baseball group that I discussed with one of your all-star youth baseball volunteers who I spoke with one evening in August as he was manicuring mounds to prepare for the State 9/10 year old baseball tournament hosted at Evergreen. As a college and high school baseball umpire, as well as high school basketball and football the past 22 years, the level of sportsmanship from some parents is way below an acceptable level. I believe if a parent or coach is yelling at a young umpire in your little league program, they should be given a voucher that must be redeemed that week by volunteering some time raking, watering, prepping fields or cleaning up trash or facilities. There is a shortage of officials occurring in all sports, at all levels and all the yelling is the biggest reason for the shortage. Thanks again for the great work for Roseville Parks and Rec!
