o Install noise walls on the east side of I-35W just north of the County Road C
ramps to County Road D.
o Contract was awarded in October 2018 to Ames Construction which had the
winning Design/Build Proposal. Total cost is $208 million.
Major roadwork is completed for 2019.
Miscellaneous Updates:
• The finance department has updated the utility bills (Attachment B) residents and
businesses receive. The new utility bill breaks down the cost of the bill more and also
shows graphically the amount of usage over the past four quarters.
• We are expecting to bring a revised Subscription Agreement for one large Community
Solar Garden within the next month or two and at least one or two more this summer. As
a reminder we committed up to 2 million kWh of on campus energy to IPS Solar for
Community Solar Garden subscriptions. This will represent a very large percentage of
the on campus electric consumption providing a significant reduction in the City's carbon
footprint.
• Capitol Region Watershed's Parkview Storm Water project is underway. Work will be
completed in early 2020. A summary of the project is shown in Attachment C.
City Council Update:
• The City Council recently authorized staff to release a request for proposals for a Civic
Campus Master Plan. Five proposals were received and staff is in the process of
selecting a firm to perform the Master Plan. It is expected that we will be making a
recommendation for Council to approve a Professional Services Agreement at the
December 2°d Council meeting but that could get pushed off.
• The City Council recently approved the purchase of the City's first electric vehicle! The
vehicle is a plug-in hybrid, Mitsubishi Outlander and is assigned to our Utility
Superintendent. We expect that this vehicle will run on full battery power for the vast
majority of its miles, but it does have a combustion engine and an 11-gallon tank as a
backup for longer trips. We are excited to experiment with this vehicle and expect
different departments to try it out. And we expect we will be purchasing more electric
vehicles in the future.
Major Maintenance Activities:
• Street and Storm
o Hauled and patched 3 water breaks
o First anti -icing of the season on 11/12/19 for the 11/12 thru 1l/13 light snow
event.
o Streetscape areas pruned back
o Started general tree trimming of City boulevard trees.
o Finished up general street pavement repairs.
o Finished up general sign maintenance items
o Ongoing inlet outlet clearing.
o Fall sweeping started 10/22/19, completed 1st go through.
