1 ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />2 MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />3 January 7, 2020 6:30 p.m. <br />4 <br />5 PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss, Brown, Carlson, Dahlstrom, Heikkila,Hoag, Kim, <br />6 Newby, O’Brien, Stoner <br />7 ABSENT: <br />8 STAFF: Brokke, Christensen, Robinette <br />9 <br />10 1) INTRODUCTIONS TO INCLUDE YOUTH APPLICANT <br />11 The Commission congratulated Youth Commissioner Andrew Kim on his appointment to the Parks <br />12 and Recreation Commission. <br />13 <br />14 2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />15 <br />16 3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – DECEMBER 3, 2019 MEETING <br />17 Vice-Chair Hoag moved to approve the minutes. Commissioner Stoner seconded. Motion passed <br />18 unanimously. <br />19 <br />20 4) RECREATION REVIEW – YOUTH PROGRAM FOCUS <br />21 Gina Robinette, Recreation Supervisor with a youth program focus introduced herself to the Parks <br />22 and Recreation Commission. Robinette met with the group approximately one year ago. She is back <br />23 to provide an update on her programs and to expand upon the information she previously provided. <br />24 Adult Wellness: <br />25 o Variety of options and levels are provided <br />26 o Sports, trips, safe driving, dance, wellness activities, etc. <br />27 Youth Arts, Theatre and Enrichment: <br />28 o Year-round and summer camp options <br />29 o Art, theatre, STEM, gymnastics, self-defense, parent-child music classes, etc. <br />30 Youth Sports: <br />31 o In-house introductory options <br />32 o Multiple age ranges, dates and timesavailable <br />33 o Soccer, basketball, kickball, tennis, golf, track, etc. <br />34 Summer 2020 Youth Programs: <br />35 o Friday Field Trips (ages 6 – 14) <br />36 o Garden Explorers <br />37 o Passport to Play (half day mornings Monday – Thursday for ages 5 – 10) <br />38 o Leaders in Training (LIT) <br />39 o Play Pals (Tuesday or Thursday for ages 3 – 6) <br />40 o Playground Games Galore (Half day afternoons for ages 7 – 12) <br />1 <br />4 <br /> <br />
