REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date:April 13, 2020 <br /> Item No.:7.b <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Public Hearing to approve/deny the transfer of an On Sale IntoxicatingLiquor <br />License for Granite City, Inc. dba Granite City Food & Brewery located at 1005 <br />Rosedale Center. <br /> <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 Under City Code, a public hearing is required to consider approving liquor licenses. The City has received <br />3 an application for a transfer of license for a 2020 Liquor License as follows: <br />4 <br />5 Granite City, Inc. dba Granite City Food & Brewery located at 1005 Rosedale Center –On Sale <br />6 and Sunday Intoxicating Liquor License <br />7 Granite City, Inc. dba Granite City Food & Brewery located at 1005 Rosedale Center – Brew Pub <br />8 License <br />9 <br />10 Neither State Statute nor City Code limits the number of licenses that can be issued for On-Sale <br />11 Intoxicating Liquor. <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />15 The regulation of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages has been a long-standing practice by the <br />16 State and the City. <br />17 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />18 The revenue that is generated from the license fees is used to offset the cost of police compliance checks, <br />19 background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. <br />20 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />21 The applicant meets all requirements set forth under City Code.
