1 ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />2 MEETING MINUTES FOR <br />3 March 5, 2020 6:30 p.m. <br />4 <br />5 PRESENT:Arneson, Baggenstoss, Brown, Dahlstrom, Carlson, Hoag, O’Brien, Stoner <br />6 ABSENT:Heikkila, Kim, Newby <br />7 STAFF:Brokke <br />8 <br />9 1) INTRODUCTIONS <br />10 <br />11 2) ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />12 Commissioner Heikkila and Youth Commissioner Kim notified staff that they would not be in <br />13 attendance. <br />14 <br />15 3) APPROVAL OF MINUTES – FEBRUARY 4, 2020 MEETING <br />16 Commissioner O’Brien moved to approve the minutes. Vice-Chair Hoag seconded. Motion passed <br />17 unanimously. <br />18 <br />19 4) FORESTRY TASK FORCE DISCUSSION <br />20 Vice-Chair Hoag relayed that the second and most likely final meeting was completed by the <br />21 Forestry Task Force. During that meeting the Forestry Task Force continued their review of City <br />22 Code 706.03. Also, Vice-Chair Hoag noted that it became apparent that the objective of the Forestry <br />23 Task Force was to discuss how forestry plays into environmental sustainability and if the Parks and <br />24 Recreation Commission is the correct home for the Tree Board. Vice-Chair Hoag noted that the tree <br />preservation policy was not reviewed by the Task Force. <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 A list of three potential recommendations that the Forestry Task Force will give to the City Council <br />28 was handed out to the Commission for review and comments. <br />29 <br />30 Commissioner Dahlstrom added that a member of the Public Works Environment and Transportation <br />31 Commission(PWETC)hadpreviously recommendedthe creation ofanEnvironmental Commission <br />32 to the City Council. As a result, the Forestry Task Force was suggested by the City Council to <br />explore further recommendations. <br />33 <br />34 <br />35 The Commission discussed the next steps for the Forestry Task Force and gained further clarification <br />36 <br />on the three recommendations. Staff confirmed that the PWETC would be presenting the <br />37 recommendations to the City Council in the coming weeks. Staff will notify the <br />38 Commission when this item has been added to a City Council agenda. <br />39 <br />40 <br />1 <br /> <br />
