<br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: June 8, 2020 <br />Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: Recognize Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Essay Contest Winners <br /> <br /> <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Human Rights, Inclusion and Engagement Commission held an essay contest for sixth, seventh <br /> and eighth grade students within the Roseville Area School District boundaries. This year 126 <br /> students entered the contest. The commission conducted an anonymous review of the essays. Names <br /> of the students were not known until after the winners were selected. <br /> <br />This year the students were asked: <br />Social media and the Internet have a growing presence in our lives. Discuss the role social media has on our <br />communities and what role it plays among you and your friends. How can social media be used to divide our <br />community?
