58 public spoke for or against the proposal, and upon the conclusion of the public hearing, the Planning <br />59 Commission voted 6 – 1 to recommend approval of the proposed subdivision. The dissenting <br />60 Commissioner on both motions felt the City should retain ownership of proposed Lot 2. At the time this <br />61 report was prepared, Planning Division staffhas received from members of the public one general <br />62 question about this application and one comment simply drawing attention to the Magellan pipeline in <br />63 the area. <br />64 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />65 The 2040 Comprehensive Plan guides the property for Core Mixed Use. <br />66 Land Use Goals & Strategies <br />67 Goal – Be an early adopter of creative and sustainable redevelopment policies. <br />68 Strategy: redevelopment near existing and <br />69 future transit corridors. <br />70 Goal – Create regulations that allow renovation and redevelopment of spaces that could be used to <br />71 support a variety of small businesses. <br />72 Strategy: Promote and support the redevelopment of physically and economically obsolete or <br />73 underutilized property. <br />74 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />75 Proceeds from the disposal of Lot 2 of the Fairview Fire Station plat would help to pay for the <br />76 acquisition by the City of the Lexington Shoppes strip center, unless the City Council decides otherwise. <br />77 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />78 Adopt a resolution approving the proposed Fairview Fire Station plat of 2501 Fairview Avenue, based <br />79 on the content of this RCA, public input, and City Council deliberation. <br />80 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION <br />81 Adopt a resolution approving the proposed Fairview Fire Station plat of 2501 Fairview Avenue, <br />82 based on the content of this RCA, the public record, and City Council deliberation. <br />83 Alternative Actions <br />84 1.Pass a motion to table the item for future action.
