REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: July 13, 2020 <br />Item No.: 7.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Receive Update on COVID-19 and Impact on City Operations <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 On March 13, 2020, Governor Walz declared a statewide peacetime emergency due to the COVID- <br />3 19 pandemic. On March 16, 2020, Mayor Roe declared a local emergency due to the COVID-19 <br />4 pandemic and the City Council extended the local emergency until May 15, 2020. On May 11, the <br />5 City Council extended the local emergency until such time Governor Walz rescinds the state <br />6 emergency and the City Council passes a resolution to rescind the local emergency. Moving <br />7 forward, staff will provide the City Council and the public an update regarding the effect of COVID- <br />8 19 in our community and its impact on city operations at every City Council meeting. <br />9 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />10 To inform the public and City Council on the effect of COVID-19 in the community and its impact <br />11 on City operations <br />12 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />13 Staff is tracking expenditures related to the City’s response to COVID-19.
