Several independent resources have been provided to the Commission for <br />review <br /> <br />In keeping with the draft plan, the following steps are suggested: <br /> Staff will attempt to connect with Dakota communities in Minnesota to share <br />progress and request feedback <br /> Staff will attempt to connect with the Roseville Area Schools American Indian <br />Parent Advisory Committee for feedback <br /> A websitedisplaying resources about the conversation and requesting feedback <br />has been posted <br /> Commissioners are encouraged as individuals to continue to have conversations <br />in the community,learn more and share what they learn with the Commission <br /> Commissioners and staff will be on hand to receive feedback at the Discover <br />Your Parks (DYP) event on August 4, 2021 at Pocahontas Parkand more <br />broadly at all Discover Your Parks events this summer <br /> It is suggestedthat a “Listening Session” be held as part of the September 7, <br />Parks and Recreation Commission meeting <br />Other Notes/Resources <br /> A story regarding the Pocahontas Park name conversation was featured on Fox <br />9 News on March 22 <br /> A resident recommended a conversation from the Minnesota Historical Society: <br />Reclaiming Bde Maka Ska <br />Requested Commission Action: Discuss and finalize tangible steps and provide <br />feedback. <br /> <br />7. Staff Report <br />a. New or Relevant Communication and Update Items <br /> The annual New Commissioner Orientation and Ethics training is scheduled <br />as follows: <br />Wednesday, April 14 <br />6:00 – 6:30 p.m. – New Commissioner Orientation <br />Chair/Vice Chair training will occur at this same time in a breakout room <br />6:30 – 7:30 p.m. – Ethics Training <br /> <br />New Commissioner Orientation is for all the commissioners who were <br />recently appointed to new terms and those appointed last year whom an <br />orientation was not provided due to COVID. New commission Chairs or Vice <br />Chairs are also invited to a training specific to their role during this time as <br />well. <br /> <br />All commissioners should plan to attend the annual Ethics training conducted <br />by our City Attorney. This will be conducted via Zoom and email invites will be <br />sent out to all commissioners. <br /> <br />
