Dear Resident/Neighbor of Reservoir Woods:
This spring, prescribed burns are planned within select parks to maintain and improve the quality
of the vegetation and habitat. This work is anticipated to occur in early to mid-May, during
daylight hours as weather conditions allow. Reservoir Woods is one of these areas.

The effort will be conducted by trained natural resources professionals from Stantec. Their staff
is experienced in the application of prescribed fire and the work will be conducted with
appropriate permit(s) and in accordance with a formal prescribed burn plan. Necessary public
officials will be notified immediately prior to starting the burns and following completion.

The City of Roseville has made a significant and commendable effort to restore and maintain
native habitats in park and open space areas. The benefits of these plantings include reduced
maintenance cost compared to turf areas, as well as improved water quality and wildlife habitat.
Although these natural landscapes require less maintenance than turf areas, they do still require
some management. Prescribed burning is an important and cost- effective tool for maintenance
of these areas.
The opposite side of this information sheets contains answers to Frequently Asked Questions
about prescribed burning. If you should have additional questions, please contact:
Sincerely,
Jim Taylor
Parks Superintendent
City of Roseville
jim.taylor@cityofroseville.com
651-792-7107
