Staff reiterated how important it is to have Commissioners available at the DYP events to <br />175gather feedback from community members on the Pocahontas Park renaming item. Staff agreed <br />176to resend the link to Commissioners. <br />177 Staff asked the Commission if they felt they would like to meet with the City Council on June7 <br />178 or if they would prefer to wait until the Pocahontas Park naming item is more wrapped-up. The <br />179 Commission discussed wanting to keep Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) before the City Council. <br />180However, they agreed that waiting may be beneficial in order to allow for additional updates on <br />181the Pocahontas Park name topic. <br />182 <br />183 6) OTHER <br />184Commissioner Lenhart sharedtheland surveyof pre-Europe settlementPocahontasPark(circa <br />1851848). Pocahontas Park was in section 10 of the 1848 land survey. The land description from Section <br />18610 included: <br />187 Land rolling <br />188 Soil second rate (not good for agriculture) <br />189Scattered timber, oak (bur, white and black) <br />190Lowlands –marsh and lakes <br />191 <br />192Commissioner Baggenstoss shared that he greatly appreciates the research on the pre-European land <br />193information. However, he wants to reiterate that the Commission needs to hear from non-white <br />194 voices and what their history and thoughts of the land may be. <br />195 <br />196 Commissioner Lenhart agreed that she looks forward to hearing and learning about those stories as <br />197 well. However, she relayed that she shared this information as it was readily available and she <br />198 thought the group might want to know about it from a historical perspective. <br />5 <br /> <br />
