<br />VILLAGE OF ROSJ.t.\TILLE <br />Continued Meoting Tuesday Eve. May 26, 1953 Rt 7:15 P.M. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date as a continuation of the <br />regular meeting of Tuesda;}r, Ma;}T 19th, with the following members present: <br />Willmus, Merobrez, Connor, and Hammersten. Carlson absent. <br /> <br />Membrez moved, seconded by Connor, that Don Roberts of the Roberts <br />Construction Co. be summoned before Justice of the peace because he viol- <br />ated the building code on the house at 995 Hoselawn by allowing the sub- <br />contractor to put in a footing that did not comply with the code. Roll <br />call Ayes-(h) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Connor moved, seconded by Harnmersten, that yre publish the story on <br />the tax structure in the Hose Tribune and have 150 sheets mimeographed. <br />Roll call Ayes-(h) N~es-(O). <br /> <br />The matter of a police department was up for discussion. Membrez felt <br />if we could go along for the rest of the year as we have in the past and in <br />the fall add one mill to the tax structure, which would give us about <br />$9,000, we could employ a full time man and get started right. Mayor Connor <br />thought 1'Ie should start at once, because we are no different from any other <br />Village. After a lot of discussion, that matter was tabled until a later <br />date, when we could get the constables and Hay Goneau together and discuss <br />the organizing of a police department. <br /> <br />Menbrez moved, Willmus seconded, that bills of Griggs, Cooper and Co. <br />and Ed. Phillips & Sons Co. be paid. Roll call Ayes-(L) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Membrez moved, seconded by Connor, that Carley set grade stakes and <br />secure easements for Eldridge, Burke, and Skillman. Roll call Ayes-(4) <br />Uayes-(O). <br /> <br />Hammersten moved, seconded by Willmus, that Carley set grade on <br />Roma AVe. in Stuber Plat. Roll call Ayes-(h) Naye~-(O). <br /> <br />'rhe matter of drainage at Mid Oaks Lane was discussed and how we <br />could relieve the problem. Mayor Connor ~:wid the water used to run South <br />toward Roselawn, but evidently, t.he culvert had been closed or taken out. <br />The matter of a solution was tabled until a later date. <br /> <br />Uembrez moved, seconded by Hammersten, that we ad,iourn.
