<br />Continued Page 4. <br /> <br />The Clerk read a letter from Ira Karon regarding his fees as Village <br />Attorney. He requested consideration of a fee in the future of $10.00 <br />an hour, plus $2.00 for stenographic work. Hammersten moved, Carlson <br />seconded, that the matter be referred to MeDbrez and Connor to discuss <br />with Mr. Karon. They were instructed tò see if he would accept $150.00 <br />per month, with authorization to go to $175.00 if necessary, effective <br />August 1, 1953. Roll call Ayes-(5). Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Carley reported on the tabulation of the furnace bids. The bid of <br />$1398.00 by Ralph Zenor met all specifications. Hammersten moved, Willmus <br />seconded, that the installation of heating system at the Old Village Hall <br />be awarded to Ralph Zenor at the price of $1398.00. Roll call Ayes-(5) <br />Nayes-( 0). <br /> <br />There was much discussion about building, plumbing, and electrical <br />codes, and whether we are subordinate to the State in some respects. <br />Question of whether it would be advisable to adopt entire new codes by the <br />Village with no reference to the State codes. It was decided that the <br />three inspectors meet with Membrez, Connor, and Carley on Mond~, July 27, <br />at 7 P.M. for a review of the codes, with the three inspectors drawing <br />up a rough idea of what they would like in their respective codes. <br /> <br />Membrez moved, Carlson seconded, that the Clerk be authorized to buy <br />two oxygen tanks for the Fire Department. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Willmus moved, Membrez seconded, that the final Sunnyslope plat be <br />approved. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Membrez, chairman of the committee appointed by Connor, reported <br />that he thought the engineer should be authorized to make decisions him- <br />sèlf if according to our ordinances, and that the engineer should work <br />out the scheduling of the work for the road crew. He suggested that <br />Carley be paid $100.00 to bring the records up to date and a salary of <br />$150.00 a month in the future for his basic work, spending approximately <br />one hour a day in the Village office. An engineering crew, when needed, <br />will be an extra charge. <br /> <br />Membrez moved, Connor seconded, that we pay Carley $100.00 to get the <br />records up to date for the engineering dept., and beginning August let, <br />that the engineer's p~ be increased to $150.00 per month, and that a <br />minimum of one hour per d~ be spent at the Village office by the engin- <br />eer with full authority to act on any matters pertaining to planning, <br />drainage, platting and road construction, and road crew. Roll call <br />Ayes-(5) N~es-(O). <br /> <br />Connor moved, Hammersten seconded, that the Clerk be authorized to <br />purchase a desk, files, and necessary supplies for the engineering depart- <br />ment. Roll call Ayes-(5) N~es-(O). <br /> <br />Membrez also spoke of the matter of the drainage of Burke St. and the <br />plans were as follow!: The problem was on Lexington and Co. Rd. B and the <br />thought was to drain the water along Lexington to Burke and down Burke <br />to a low spot. Carley will prepare a sketch to show how that will work. <br />When that is done, they would like to contact the State and County to see <br />if they would share in the cost.
