VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE Regular Meeting Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. The Village Council met on the above date with the following members present: Carlson, Willmus, Membrez, Connor, and Hammp.Tsten. Milner Carley, Village Engineer, and Ira Karon, Village Attorney, were also present. Carlson moved, seconded by Connor, that the reading of the minutes be waived and approved, as corrected, according to copies furnished each member of the Council. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). Membrez moved, seconded by Willmus, that petition of Clara Sauter for the rezoning of "The E 950 Ft. of the N 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 14, Township 29, Range 23" from Farm District to a Business .,. District be ac- cepted and public hearing be held on September 1, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). Membrez moved, seconded by Hammersten, that the matter of paying Schifsky for the use of the dog pound be referred to Carlson to clarify the issue and report at the next meeting. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). Clerk read letter from Karon on the opinion on the use of red lights and sirens. After much discussion on the matter, it was decided to discuss it further at a later meeting. The matter of more police was discussed, and we are all aware that something should be done and at a later meeting make provisions in our budget for next year,and set up a good police department. Membrez moved, Hammersten seconded, that we pay bill presented by Constable Nelson. Roll call Ayes-(S) Nayes-(O). Membrez moved, seconded by Carlson, that mileage of Vernon Schmidt be paid. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(ò'). Membrez moved, seconded by Connor, that we pay mileage of 7l¢ per mile to all emp1qyees and members of Council on Village business while using their own cars. Mileage must be submitted on a daily report sheet similar to one used by the County. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). Clerk read letter from on drainage. Hammersten moved, se- conded by Connor, that the matter be referred to the Engineer. Roll call AyeR-(5) Nayes-(O). Report was read from Carley on B2 East of Snelling stating that Mr. Johnson has agreed to wait with the extension of his driveway until the full width of the street is obtained. Clerk read report from Carley on Skillman Ave. and Eldridge Street from Pascal to Ham1ine. Membrez moved, seconded by Hammersten, that we concur in Engineer's report providing money for surface gravel is deposit- ed with the Clerk on or before September 15, 1953. Roll call Ayes-(5) Nayes-(O). Clerk read report from Carley on Skillman Ave. from Hamline to Fernwood. Membrez moved, Hsmmersten seconded, that we concur in Engin- eer's report providing money for surface gravel is deposited with the Clerk on or before September 15, 1953.
