<br />VILLAGE COUNCIL OF ROSEVILLE <br />Continued Meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1953 at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Village Council met on the above date as a continuation of the <br />regular meeting of September 1, 1953 with the following members present: <br />Carlson, Connor, and Hammersten. Milner Carley, Village Engineer, and <br />Dr. M. S. Sekhon and E. J. Auge of the Health Board, were also present. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the pumping of ,ffluent from cesspools onto <br />the right-of-way and onto other people's property. Qr. Sekhon suggested <br />that we inform the people of the trench method which4~útting tile 6 inches <br />under the surface, where it will have evaporation by the heat of the sun. <br />He also stated Dr. Smiley of the State Board of Health has said he does <br />not see any harm if it is pumped out onto the individual~ yard, where it <br />will evaporate within 6 hours, and suggested that maybe we could have <br />Dr. Smiley come in and discuss with us his experience in various parts of <br />the country along those lines. · <br /> <br />It was suggested that maybe we could include in our ordinance the <br />matter of a herringbone t~e of drain field to help solve the problem of <br />disposal. <br /> <br />Mr. Walter Uhler, owner of the, Depot Nite Club, appeared and suggested <br />that "e Village ought to lease the place for an On and Orf Sale place. <br />It was fully equipped and if it needed remodeling, he would be glad to do <br />it. He asked if it would be possible to hav~ ffi] outsider run an on sale <br />place rather than the Village, and he was told that the people voted to <br />have stores municipal owned. Mr. Uhler was told the matter would be dis- <br />cussed with the whole Council and they would let him know the answer. <br /> <br />It was suggested that we invite Dr. Smiley in and discuss our sewage <br />problem with him. <br /> <br />The matter of occasional inspection by the Health Dept. of all places <br />licensed to sell food was discussed. Mayor Connor thought that inspect- <br />ions should be made of all places handling foodstuffs. The Clerk suggested <br />that someone should be appointed on the Health Board to replace Mr. Cook, <br />who is a salesman and is out of town a lot. <br /> <br />Cárlson moved, seconded by Connor, that John Kromhout be appointed <br />Gas Inspector on a fee basis in line with fees now being paid plumbing and <br />electrical inspectors. Roll call Ayes-(3) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Connor moved, seconded by Carlson, that the Village Council accept <br />petition of Nic Lebens changing classification of his property to Business <br />and that public hearing be held October 6, 1953 at 2:00 P.M. providing he <br />furnish us with an abstract certificate. Roll call Ayes-D) Nayes-(O). <br /> <br />Carley brought up the question of investigating building sites before <br />permits are issued.
