H. Tree Preservation Simplified Plan Set 3821
3822
1. At the discretion of the Community Development Department, a simplified Tree Preservation 3823
Plan may be submitted when trees do not exist on the site or when no activity is planned within 3824
the typical root protection zone of existing trees. Simplified plans, when pre-approved for 3825
submittal, shall include the following information: 3826
a. Location of trees (both on and adjacent to the property) showing required protection zones. 3827
i. At a minimum, plans must identify the typical root protection zones for each tree which 3828
forms the boundary of vegetation being protected during the proposed activity. 3829
ii. At the discretion of the applicant, greater protection may be provided to individual trees 3830
by identifying a tree’s unique dripline as the protection zone; in no instance shall a 3831
dripline provide less projection than a typical root protection zone. 3832
b. Proposed grading contours of the site (if applicable): 3833
c. Proposed location of building pads and other impervious surfaces being installed; 3834
d. Proposed locations and details of tree protection fencing to be installed for all treed areas to 3835
be protected. 3836
2. At the discretion of the Community Development Department, a simplified Tree Preservation 3837
Plan may also be submitted when a significant majority of trees will be preserved on a site, and 3838
the few trees to be impacted within the area of activity will clearly not exceed allowed removal 3839
thresholds. 3840
3. An escrow as required by 1011.04(M) shall still be required for any activity which can be 3841
permitted with a simplified Tree Preservation plan set. 3842
I. Allowable Tree Removal 3843
