REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: June 1, 2020 <br />Item No.: 7.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consideration to approve a Proclamation, and two Resolutions declaring a local <br />emergency in the City of Roseville. <br />B ACKGROUND <br />Due to the ongoing situation in Minneapolis and St. Paul due to the death of George Floyd while in <br />custody of the Minneapolis Police Department, Mayor Roe declared a local emergency and curfew in <br />the City of Roseville through June 1, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. On June 1, Governor Walz announced the <br />curfew in Minneapolis and St. Paul will be extended for two additional days from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. <br />Staff recommends extending the local emergency through Monday, June 8 and the declaring of a <br />curfew for the evenings of June 1 and 2 with the option of extending the curfew by the City’s <br />Emergency Manger during the local emergency period. <br />F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />Declaring a local emergency is designed to allow the city to be more nimble in its response and able to <br />recover its costs from the emergency. <br />R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION <br />Motion to approve Proclamation and Resolution 11709 and11710. <br />Prepared by: Katie Bruno, Deputy City Clerk <br />Attachments: Proclamation <br />Resolution 11709 <br />Resolution 11710 <br /> <br />
