REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:October 12, 2020 <br />Item No.: 9.e <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Approve a Resolution Approving Final Contract Acceptance of the 2020 <br />Drainage Improvement Project <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 On April 27, 2020, the City Council awarded the 2020 Drainage Improvement Project to Frattalone <br />3 Companies. The work for this contract was finished in August of 2020, and the contractor has <br />4 requested final payment. This project consisted of various drainage and grading improvements <br />5 across the City. See Attachment C for the various project locations. <br />6 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />7 City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract: <br />8 Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in <br />9 accordance with plans and specifications. <br />10 A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. <br />11 F INANCIAL I MPACTS <br />12 The final contract amount is $227,069.95, which is lower than the original contract amount of <br />13 $252,787.75. For the Brenner Pond improvements, a grant from the watershed will pay for <br />14 $100,000.00 of the costs. Additionally, $27,520.00 of storm water impact funds from the Met <br />15 Council project on Avon Street in 2018 will also pay for some of the Brenner Pond costs. All <br />16 remaining costs will be paid by the storm water utility fund. <br />17 Other project costs included testing, which was $3,182.00. Additional future costs for the <br />18 improvements will be for $16,500.00 for trees and other landscaping at Brenner Pond. These <br />19 additional costs will be paid using the storm water utility fund. Total project costs will be <br />20 $246,751.95. <br />21 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />22 Since all necessary items have been completed in accordance with project plans and specifications, <br />23 staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution approving final contract acceptance of the <br />24 2020 Drainage Improvement Project and authorize final payment of $11,353.50. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
