REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:November 9, 2020 <br /> Item No.: 7.b <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Receive 2020 Legislative Update <br />1 B ACKGROUND <br />2 This past Minnesota legislative session, two important priorities for the city were approved by the <br />3 Legislature and signed into law by Governor Walz; allowing the Cedarholm Community Building to <br />4 have an on-sale intoxicating liquor license, and providing $3.9 million of state bonding money for <br />5 repairs and improvements to the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL. <br />6 <br />7 Ann Lenczewski, who serves as Roseville’s lobbyist on state legislative issues, will provide an <br />8 update on the city’s legislative priorities and provide an overall review 2020 Legislative session. <br />9 Ms. Lenczewski will also preview the 2021 legislative session. <br />10 <br />11 A listing of Roseville’s 2020 Legislative Priorities are included as Attachment A. <br />12 P OLICY O BJECTIVE <br />13 Advocating for Roseville’s Legislative Prioritieswill provide a voice to the Minnesota Legislature <br />14 and Governor on items and issues that are important to the community and city operations. <br />15 B UDGET I MPLICATIONS <br />16 As a result of the OVAL being included in the state bonding bill, Roseville will receive $3.9 million <br />17 to repair and improve the OVAL. <br />18 S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION <br />19 No action requested. <br />20 R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION <br />21 Receive the 2020 Legislative Session Update. <br />Prepared by: Patrick Trudgeon, City Manager (651) 792-7021 <br /> <br />Attachments: A: Listing of Roseville’s 2020 Legislative Priorities <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />
